What Are The Benefits Behind The Martial Arts Mindset?

Want to know more about GO TO PPDT Training Site Link

The first principle to understand is that there really isn't a distinction between what we do in our personal life and what we do and learn from our martial arts. It's only an extension of who we are and what we do day to day as we go about living, whether it be in our families, or part of our personal relationships, personal development, or in our business and professional life and even what we believe from a spiritual point of view. All of these areas are connected and eventually loop back together based on the fundamental principles that we learn within martial arts.

What is not realized is that we can take these principles and apply them to anything that we do to get the results that we want. I am often asked; what is the Martial Arts Mindset and what are the principles that are taught that can turn a White Belt student into a Black Belt?

The first step is to understand what is a Mindset ! I have found the best way to describe it is that it is a " continuous state of belief that encompasses our values with energy" . Through experiences, habits are formed by the mind which over time becomes set or beliefs as to what we believe we can do or not do!

Quote: "Try Not.Do or Do Not.There is No Try!....Yoda (Star Wars)

You cannot achieve what your mind cannot conceive.and believe! Every great achievement is first achieved in the mind. It is the belief and knowing in yourself which differentiates the martial mindset from that of normal day to day thinking of others.

The journey from White Belt to Black Belt requires both physically and mental challenges to be overcome in the dojo (training hall), however these challenges also flow over into in all areas of life. It is the martial arts teachings that create what I call Black Belt Thinking and provides each student with the opportunity to develop their personal power and energy, so that they can achieve success in anything that they do.

The Martial Arts teachings of Black Belt Thinking is based on what I call the
" Meta Principles" , which are:

•  Mind Over Matter - Creating "Clarity" and understanding of what are the challenges, there impact and how success looks and feels like. This is the Purpose and single mindedness of knowing that they will achieve their outcome! This is your Mindset and is the single most important step in creating the reasons as to what and why a Black Belt is successful.

•  Energy Or Exhaustion - Creating Passion is what energizes beliefs and is the driving force to achieve knowledge and mastery. Knowing what is needed to maintain energy levels, i.e. exercise, nutrition, sleep and breathing are a key teaching and mindset change for students. Creating, maintaining and using energy wisely by visualizing and continuously integrating all actions to a specific outcome is how Black Belt's focus.

•  Time For Life - One of the defining and visible features of a Black Belt is their ability to be Balanced in all actions, whether they are passive or combative. They create time and plan for each movement to be learnt, understood, practiced to achieve both a skill and mastery; develop awareness and perception of the environment and then project the needed behaviour to achieve the desired result. This process provides the ability to focus on now and therefore not waste energy or time; they have time to enjoy the journey.

•  Act Now, Not Later - Taking action is what achieves results, this is common sense, however it is rarely practiced. Anxiety, fear of failure or ridicule is what stops many people from taking action. In grained in Marital Arts teaching is the knowledge that failure is just a part of feedback to obtain a skill and mastery. A Black Belt already knows their outcome will be successful and has no fear; they only need to have dedication and Persistence to continue to success, i.e. say what you do and do what you say!

The Warrior Mindset of Black Belt Thinking to Personal Power & Excellence

Success = Purpose + Passion + Persistence .to everything of value in your life!

"Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why
it is called the present!". Master Oogway (Kung Fu Panda)

The mindset that we get from Martial Arts teaches us how to be able to cope with the challenges that we all face as part of our normal living.

We are all under constant demands from work, family, friends, wanting and needing our attention and time. This results in increased levels of anxiety, frustration and stress, and not being able to find some personal or me time to relax; be able to put forward our ideas and focus on doing the important rather than the urgent to be able to be successful and achieve the outcomes that we need.

"The Black Belt represents not the end, but the beginning, the start of a ongoingjourney of discipline, work and the pursuit of an ever higher standard." You may not want or hope to be a Black Belt, but you might be at an important point in your life. Maybe you're facing a life change, perhaps even a painful one. Or maybe you are waiting for something you have worked hard to attain -a new job, a promotion, a house, school graduation or even retirement.

There is a common misconception that we have to live compartmentalized, work is separate to family or social parts of our lives, and this in the end causes confusion and lack of focus. Clarity is a key part of the warrior mindset within Martial Arts.Knowing and being aware of who you are, what you are doing, having a clear purpose of what needs to be done; the passion to drive you forward no matter what the barrier or challenge that is in front of you; the conviction to take action, not just talk about it and try; finally the persistence and determination to continue until the end result is achieved..this is the Martial Mindset or Warrior Mindset.knowing not thinking, doing not trying.to success!

All Masters see that changes can be new beginnings. Change need not be feared. And neither should we be looking for a permanent place to rest and relax, as a full and happy life is never stagnant.Does the change you may face now represent, not just an ending, but a new beginning in your life's journey? If so, you may be ready to move forward and become the Warrior with the mindset and thinking of a Black Belt.
