Japan Martial Arts Tour
This is an amazing experience available in Japan and will transport participants to another time and place. Upon landing in Tokyo, Japan the place of the rising sun you will immediately have a sense of the samurai-era metropolis once known as Edo, including out-of-the-way locations such as the Historic Crime Museum at Meiji University, Mt Fuji and Nikko Edo Mura to name a few. Martial arts experiences will include demonstrations of Kendo (bamboo sword), Kyudo (archery), Iaido (live sword cutting), Judo and vantage point seats at a Sumo wrestling tournament, training in Aikido, various Karate styles, Shintaido and other esoteric arts. Moving beyond the city we will explore the forest-bound mystery of the provinces. Using a combination of western hotels and traditional ryokan inns as our base, it is possible to get a powerful sense of the past. Throughout, we will experience all of the undisputed pleasures of travel in Japan - its landscape, architecture, the arts, purging hot baths and unique cuisine, as nourishing for the mind as for the body.
